FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HAVE A QUESTION? WE'RE HERE TO ANSWER.

what is direct primary care?

Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a healthcare model built on a monthly membership that allows for high-quality, personalized care that is both accessible and affordable without the headache of insurance. Similar to concierge medicine, DPC offers a simpler, more patient-centered approach. We see patients across all insurance spectrums from uninsured, to commercial insurance and Medicare. No copays. No surprise bills. For a flat monthly fee, you receive comprehensive integrative-minded primary care services and direct access to your provider. By removing the insurance middleman, this model allows for us to focus on what matters most—your health, your time, and your healing—without the constraints of insurance limitations.

Integrative medicine combines evidence-based conventional care with proven functional medicine strategies. While conventional medicine excels at medical emergencies, it often falls short of offering patients hope for chronic diseases. Integrative medicine focuses on supporting the body’s natural ability to heal. Through an integrative approach, we bring together the best of Western medicine and functional medicine to help you map out a practical plan to reach your health goals. we work in partnership with our patients to restore balance, support healing, and promote long-term wellness in a natural, sustainable way.

No. Little River Integrative Medicine does not accept insurance for office visits, which are all covered under your flat monthly membership fee. Not billing insurance means we can function independently of insurance influence and provide you a level of care you cannot find in any other model.

Yes. We are happy to offer Medicare patients the same level of care the rest of our patients enjoy.

Modern conventional healthcare has become incredibly expensive and could be financially crippling in the event of a catastrophic illness. Due to this, we do recommend at least some form of health insurance or health share plan. We will do our best to help you navigate what options may be best for you and your family’s needs. We also have trusted contacts we can put you in touch with for further assistance.

Little River Integrative Medicine offers transparent, highly-discounted lab rates and diagnostics that do not require insurance approval or involvement. However, if your insurance covers these services well, we are happy to facilitate labs and diagnostics to be completed at an outside facility. Joining a DPC does not change your insurance coverage for specialists and hospital visits.

Our electronic medical record and patient portal allow for a secure, direct line of communication to Jacob's cell phone. Additionally, each staff member has a unique number for direct communications regarding your care.

Beginning January 1st, 2026 federal law allows for HSA funds to be used for DPC membership fees. FSA funds aren’t typically able to be utilized for DPC memberships; however, we encourage you to reach out to your FSA holder for more specific information.

We try our best to limit the need for referrals by managing a large scope of disease states; however, we are happy to get a trusted specialist involved in your care if needed or desired to help you heal.

We are happy to fill out FMLA and short term disability forms for our members when medically necessary. We do not do any long term disability or workers' compensation evaluations.
